Collecting stamps is an adventure.
With stamps you are going to travel worldwide, you can learn about other cultures, countries, people - and you can come in contact with people worldwide - a real adventure.
But every philatelist knows that he has to specialize and he has to know a lot about his chosen topic. The target is not to accumulate a lot of stamps or postal history, but we have to learn about it, with literature and with philatelic connections.
I want to emphasize the necessity to join a philatelic society sharing the same interests as yours. In the society you can find collectors with the same topics, literature etc. - and knowledge is priceless!
My interests are wide spread: I'm interested in postal history of the South Atlantic, Antarctica and parts of the Indian and Pacific Ocean. My topics you can see if you have a look to My Societies.
With my home page I want to share my information on South Atlantic postal history, to give assistance for building up a postal history collection, to identify your collected items and give help to estimate the value of your items - and, my home page is reflecting my collecting interests.
Because of many international contacts and my interests I'm writing the following pages in English.
There's still the odd page under development and will be completed from time to time, thanks for your patience. You can help if you send me missing infos/scans (e.g. St. Helena, Rodriguez, Pitcairn).
But - be sure - you will visit a very specialized home page for specialized collectors of the South Atlantic region.

You may enter these pages only as a St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha Philatelic Society (SHATPS) member by typing a username and password. The username and password is the first word, page 7 of the November 2014 South Atlantic Chronicle. Type lower case letters only!
Also protected with special access for SHATPS and WASC members it the page St. Helena UPU PPCs Innes. The username and password for SHATPS members is the 2nd word in the 4th line of the November 2014 Chronicle p. 11.
For WASC members: the username and password you will find in the October 2014 Cameo p. 120, the 3rd word.

Kaum ein anderes Hobby ist so vielseitig und spannend wie das Sammeln von Briefmarken! Alte und neue Markenausgaben diverser Länder sind längst schon nicht mehr zählbar... Mit Briefmarken gehen Sie auf Reisen in ferne Länder, lernen unbekannte Kulturen kennen oder unternehmen eine Zeitreise in die Vergangenheit...
Mit einem gutes Fachwissen in einem besonderen Spezialgebiet und dem entsprechenden Jagdinstinkt kann sich jeder Briefmarkensammler auf die Suche nach Schnäppchen machen. Wer schon einmal eine wertvolle Marke für ein paar Cent erworben hat, wird dieses Glücksgefühl nicht vergessen. Egal, ob sie Freude daran haben, eine Ländersammlung zu komplettieren, alle Druckabarten einer bestimmten Briefmarkenausgabe zu sammeln, die Postgeschichte des eigenen oder fremder Länder zu erforschen oder sich einfach nur gern die kunstvollen Bilder auf einer Marke ansehen - dieses Hobby bleibt immer spannend!
Da meine Interessen mehr im englisch-sprachigen Bereich liegen und ich mich bei mehreren britischen und amerik. Vereinen engagiere, bitte ich um Verständnis, wenn die nachfolgenden Seiten in englischer Sprache verfasst sind. Lediglich unter dem Link Tristan da Cunha finden Sie die Postgeschichte dieses interessanten Sammelgebiets auch in deutscher Sprache!
